Two Dogs from Tobago Story
The story begins sadly with the death of a family owned dog of many years. You can read about this family pet dog Barley, in the article entitled, “In Memory of Barley.” As has been the case in such other grief stricken times, a sailing trip tends to help this couple deal with this loss as they ride the waves. Their favorite port on these trips is an island that is different than others in such that this island is more “laid back” than many others. It has a slower pace with lots of nature and beautiful beaches, hills, mountains and weather.
This island has a number of stray animals which is common on many tropical islands. There are numerous dogs, cats, goats and chickens. This time, the couple meets two stray dogs as they walk through the town roads. They share their treats with these two dogs. They show them some affection as they pet and scratch them and give them each a name with an afternoon full of fun! The couple begins leaving these two dogs on the walk but the dogs will have no part of this departure. These two dogs continue to follow the couple no matter where they go and their affection to the dogs and from the dogs to the couple begins. As the couple is ready to leave the island the next day, they find it much more than difficult to leave their new found friends and saying “good-bye” is very painful. Then, well…maybe you should just listen to the song to see exactly what happens next.

In Memory of Barley
Barley left a special mark in the hearts of all who knew him. He was a Labrador retriever through and through. He had such excitement whether it was a long walk, fetching a ball, a swim in the ocean, or perhaps a hunt in a pond for frogs. After a fun filled day, he could be found curled up in his bed or at the end of the couch especially if we were nearby.
He was a friend to everyone and everything. His kind nature was evident when he was once decorated as a lion for a party or as he allowed the children to play dress up with him. A friend; a companion; a protector and so much more. He was always by your side; such a loyal pup! We miss him every day and will always remember the joy he brought to our lives.
Charitable Contributions
A portion of all proceeds is donated to our local Animal Rescue League which we have been supporting long before the creation of this song. We hope, with the success of the song, the donations can increase here and to other rescue leagues and animal shelters across the U.S.A. and abroad.
Not just to help dogs, but all animals that could use a little love.
